  • Which languages is Boomerang for Android currently localized in?

We have localized Boomerang in French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portugese, and Spanish.

  • When will Boomerang for Android be localized to my language?

Boomerang should work fine regardless of which language you use with Gmail, even though all of the app text and user interface elements are currently in English. We are planning to add more localized languages. Please email into boomerangandroid@baydin.com with your language so we can make sure it's on our list.

  • What if I need to use Boomerang when I don’t have my Android device?

Boomerang started out as a Gmail extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. To get the full value of Boomerang service, we recommend you download the extension from boomeranggmail.com and it will give you a fully integrated mobile to web experience. Your actions sync seamlessly between Boomerang for Android and Boomerang for Gmail. You can schedule messages or set up follow up reminders on Gmail web interface just like you do on your Android device.

  • I love the swipe gestures, but sometimes I need to move a lot of messages at once. Is there a way to do this in Boomerang for Android?

There sure is! First, tap and hold any message you would like to include in the batch. Once you see it highlighted, tap each additional message you wish to include and use the icons at the bottom of your screen to move the group accordingly.

  • How does Boomeranging a message work?

Boomerang brings your message back to your Inbox at a time you specify. We do that by moving the message from Inbox to a folder named Boomerang. At the time you scheduled, we simply bring the same message back to Inbox for your attention.

  • How does Send Later work?

When you schedule a message, Boomerang puts it in a special Boomerang-outbox folder. At the time you scheduled, Boomerang will send the message from Gmail servers directly. It will still go out even if your phone is dead or doesn’t have any data connection.

  • How do I insert a read receipt?

When you are composing a new message or a reply, click on the attachments icon. This will pop out a small menu and you'll see the option to insert a read receipt which you can tap to add tracking to your message. You'll be notified with an email notification when the recipient opens your message for the first time.

  • How do I reschedule or cancel a message scheduled with Boomerang?

All of your pending messages will be available in the Boomerang and Boomerang-Outbox folders within the app. If you open up a message, you'll see the options within the message to reschedule or cancel the message.

  • I love widgets! Does Boomerang have a widget?

We love widgets too. So much so, that we made two. You'll find them in the widgets section of your apps list and you can drag them right onto the home screen. Our smaller widget shows you an unread message count for the account specified. The larger widget allows you to see the first few messages in your inbox and make small adjustments without opening the app. Feel free to use both. You can even have them for each email address you are using with Boomerang for Android.

  • How much does Boomerang for Android cost?

Boomerang for Android is free while it's in Beta. Once the app comes out of beta, we will be revisiting our pricing to figure out what makes sense between our extensions and apps.

  • I have suggestions on how to make Boomerang for Android better. How do I give you feedback?

Look for the Send Feedback button under the label list in the app. You can also email us here.

Troubleshooting Boomerang for Android

  • I am getting an error that says “Error updating threads: IMAP is disabled for the label, ‘[folder name]’. Please enable IMAP.”

It sounds like IMAP may be enabled for the account but not the specific labels that Boomerang requires to function. Here are the following steps to ensure all the labels we need via IMAP are accessible.

    1. Go to Gmail Web interface on a computer (not a mobile device).
    2. Click on the Settings (gear icon) on top right of Gmail screen and click Settings from the dropdown menu.
    3. Click on the Labels (second from left) tab.
    4. Uncheck and check "Show in IMAP" checkbox on the right for each of the folders : All Mail, Drafts, Inbox, Sent Mail, Starred, Trash, Boomerang, and Boomerang-Outbox.

Note: If you don’t see the checkboxes on the right that say ‘Show in IMAP’ for these folders, do the following 2 steps to enable IMAP first and then go back to step 3.

    5. Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab in Gmail Settings.
    6. Check that Enable IMAP radio button is selected under ‘IMAP Access’ section and click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
  • I am having trouble receiving notifications when new messages arrive in my inbox.

The first thing to check is that notifications are on for your account within Boomerang. First, open up the app and head to the settings. You'll see notifications options within the account settings for each email address you are using.

If you already have notifications on, can you try turning notifications off, save and restart the app, and then turn them back on. Typically a refresh of this nature will get them back up and running again. If you continue having trouble after trying this, please email boomerangandroid@baydin.com.

  • I am getting an error that says “You have reached the maximum number of simultaneous IMAP connections.”

If you have more than one IMAP client accessing the same Gmail account at the same time, you may reach a connection threshold and receive this error message, 'Too many simultaneous connections.' Gmail currently has a limit of 15 simultaneous IMAP connections per email address.

If you often use multiple mail clients or mobile devices with the same Gmail account, we recommend signing out of any mail clients on your computer or phone that you're not actively using to resolve this error.

  • I can’t log in with my G Suite (Google Apps) account. It’s giving me an error that says "sign-in feature is disabled for the domain”.

By default, Google has turned off the single sign-in feature for G Suite (Google Apps) Premier or Educational domains. To turn on this feature, follow the steps below if you are an administrator for the domain or ask the domain administrator or the IT department to do it for you.

    1. Sign in to your G Suite (Google Apps) Control Panel.
    2. Click on 'More Controls' at the very bottom of the page.
    3. Click 'Security'.
    4. Click 'Advanced settings'.
    5. Look for 'Federated Login using OpenID' and click on it.
    6. Check 'Allow users to sign in to third party websites using OpenID'.
    7. Click 'Save changes'.
